Heatons Secures Planning for Future Biogas at Heath Farm Energy

20 March 2025

Heatons is delighted to announce that we have successfully secured planning permission on behalf of Future Biogas for the redevelopment of Heath Farm Energy. This approval follows a comprehensive planning process, including detailed consultation with stakeholders and local authorities, and paves the way for substantial investment at the site.

Future Biogas Planning Success

The newly granted permission enables upgrades that will improve both the functionality and the output of green gas into the national grid, enough to supply renewable gas to approximately 12,000 homes each year. In addition, the introduction of Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) technology is a major step forward in achieving negative emissions. This cutting-edge process allows the facility not only to generate clean energy but also to capture and store carbon, helping reduce greenhouse gases and significantly contributing to national climate change targets.

Overall, this milestone underscores Heatons’ and Future Biogas’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy infrastructure and represents a vital move toward securing long-term environmental benefits for the local area and beyond.
