Heatons are delighted to have secured planning permission, on behalf of Aggregate Industries, for a new aggregate wash plant at Uttoxeter Quarry, Staffordshire, with the importation of up to 200,000 tonnes per annum of limestone scalpings. The application received unanimous approval at Staffordshire County Council’s Planning Committee in early December.
The planning application was accompanied by an Environmental Statement which included assessments relating to issues such as noise, air quality and landscape, as well as a supporting Transport Statement, Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy. Heatons and the project team worked closely with the Planning Authority to address consultee comments, including HGV routing.
This is the second planning permission to be approved for Uttoxeter Quarry in recent months. In August 2021, Heatons submitted a planning application for a northern extension to the quarry, which would release just under 1 million tonnes of sand and gravel. The site is to be restored to a mix of agriculture, water-based recreation and nature conservation and will provide enhancements for public access. The planning application was approved by Staffordshire County Council in August 2022.
