Heatons Secures Planning Permission for Extended Hours and Site Adjustments at Peterborough Waste Management Facility

2 May 2025

Heatons has successfully obtained planning permission for the variation of planning conditions at a waste management site in Peterborough. The approval will allow for extended operating hours at the facility and regularise an existing site office and skip storage area that were not previously accounted for in the original planning approval.

Under the terms of the site’s previous planning permission, a restrictive condition limited the facility’s opening hours, prohibiting evening opening during the winter months, resulting in the public not being able to use the site after typical working hours. Heatons was instructed to produce an application to facilitate permission for the site office and skip storage area as well as extended winter opening hours and extended opening hours to Bank Holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

Heatons produced a comprehensive Planning Statement outlining the need for the proposed changes and how they would benefit both the client and the public interest whilst maintaining an acceptable impact on the environment and local community.

As a result of these efforts, Heatons’ application was granted approval, providing the waste management site with the necessary flexibility to operate more effectively. The new planning permission allows for extended opening hours and incorporates the site office and skip storage area, improving the site’s operational efficiency and overall service delivery.
