Ben Matthews
Ben joined Heatons in 2025 as a Director of the new Geosciences Discipline. Ben is a Chartered Geologist with over 20 years experience in the quarrying sector within industry and consultancy, as well as professional experience across a range of sectors including built development, energy and the environment.
Ben brings technical expertise and project management skills across the whole quarry lifecycle, from site finding, exploration, resource assessment, design, operation, quality, restoration and after use. As a Chartered Geologist, Ben is a Competent person for reporting of Mineral Reserves & Resources under international reporting codes (e.g. PERC), and has experience of geotechnical management in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999, as well as all geoscience aspects of quarries and construction minerals.
Aside from quarrying, Ben works on mineral safeguarding, geological and geodiversity assessments for planning applications and mineral ownership issues.
Prior to joining Heatons, Ben was employed by SLR Consulting and Tarmac.
